February 2019 Chamber Meeting

Meeting Minutes:

Location: Yoba’s

Date: 2/12/2019 – Monday – 12:10pm

1. Roll Call -14 members present

1. Minutes from last meeting-Don made a motion to approved as sent out Kris 2^nd motion was carried

III.           Treasurer’s Report & Bills to present- Amanda read the treasure’s report and there was no bills to present.

1. Reports from Committees
2. a) Membership Committee- the membership drive social went over well.  Currently we have 21 members.  Security First Insurance paid for the postage of all membership letters and post cards sent out.
3. b) Facebook & Web Page-  Jess, Becky, Clint, and Jordon are working on getting our  Facebook  page and Website page updated.  The committee will be getting forms sent out to business on what they would like listed on the website.   This is a great resource to use when looking for upcoming events.

2. a) Rushville Welcome Signs-Kris read a test she had received from Mel this morning.  He does have 2 more fabricators and waiting on quotes back from them.  Working on 2 grants that have deadlines coming up.  He will be in the Rushville area and would like to meet with the committee in March.
3. b) Town Beautification (Summer Tourism prep)-Becky will be in contact with the state to see about the adopt the highway.  Also looking at getting the school involved on a trash clean-up day.  Would like to do this in April early May.
4. c) Power in the Park (pending)-Mayor is waiting to hear back from engineer on if updating the power in the park can be done and the cost.  Was discussed if the Christmas lights are owned by the city or the chamber.  Chuck thought his mom had went to each business and asked for donations.  They may be over 20 yrs old.  Was discussed to look at purchasing some new banners instead of lights.  Then price of banners is about 4 to 1light.  Amanda will get some figures put together with the catalog she has.   Chamber will put out a bid for the banners.

1. Old Business
2. a) Window Clings- there were 2 bids presented.  This bid has been tabled until the next meeting on March 21, 2019.  The chamber would like to see bids presented with the following: Size would need to be at least 5” X 8 1/2”.Be able to read the print and design on both sides.  Multi colored.  We would like to know the price for the quantity of 30 and 125.   The bid update will be sent to the two business who sent in current bids and will updated bid will be accepted until March 21,2019 at 3pm.
3. b) Code Red-The City is already signed up for this.  Mayor is looking for Chamber to help spread the word on how to sign up for the alerts.  There will be some information regarding on the Facebook  and website pages to come.
4. c) Trisha gave an update on The Cowboy Trail.   They have been able to receive a couple of grants.  With one of the grants they will be working on the 13 bridges between Hay Springs and Rushville.   They have sold 15 of the 28 mile markers.  Mile markers are $650 each and tax deductible.  Trisha passed out what the mile markers look like and these are made from local business.

VII. New business

1. a) Not for Profit Status 501c6- Becky has been in contact with Vince Ryan our Not for Profit Status.   Chuck made a motion for Becky to keep moving forward.  Kris 2^nd motion was carried.
2. b) Easter Egg Hunt 4/20- Committee was made of Kris, Melissa, and Amanda.  Kris is going to check with a couple of past helpers and see if they would still be willing to help.  Kris will order the needed items.  The budget has been sent to the committee members.
3. c) Junk Jaunt 5/31- hope to have community clean up before this event.  Kris made a motion to continue with the past contribution of $100.  Jean 2^nd motion was carried
4. d) Rib Cook Off – (Proposed Date Change & Event Expansion)Committee of Chuck, Clint, Becky, Amanda   Will check to see if Chris H would like to be on this committee also as he has helped in the past.  New dates would be the 22^nd of June.  Look at incorporating the ball field.

This is the same time frame the bikers will be coming into Rushville and the class of 1959 reunion. 

e)Kris H discussed the swimming pool group, SOS is looking for volunteers to go help on March 4^th to help with Tax Sales.   If interested please contact Kris House.
